BERG Buddy go-karts: the first pedal kart, for ages 3 to 8
The Buddy is the smallest BERG frame we stock and the only one BERG rates from the age of three. BERG gives it a rider height of 100 to 130 cm, which takes most children from their first go at pedalling to around eight.
It has the same BFR hub as the bigger karts, so a child learns to brake and reverse with the pedals from the start. The seat moves to three positions, the tyres are pneumatic, and a swing axle lets the front wheels ride over bumps.

Which Buddy to choose
The two Buddy karts we sell are the same frame and differ in colour and price: the B.Orange, our lowest-priced kart, and the Lua in pink and green. While stocks last, the shop includes a free BERG Buddy flashing light on a pole with either.
Who the Buddy suits
A first kart at three or four
If the rider is three, the Buddy is the only frame of ours inside BERG's guide. At four it is usually still the better choice than the Rally, because a child can manage it straight away.
A small five- or six-year-old
BERG's guides for the Buddy and the Rally both cover these years. A child near the bottom of the Rally's 110 cm height range is often happier on a Buddy.
Not for a growing eight-year-old
BERG's height range for the Buddy ends at 130 cm. A tall seven- or eight-year-old will outgrow it soon, and the Rally will last longer.
The frames either side
Below the Buddy, BERG makes the Buzzy (ages 2 and up, 85 to 115 cm) and the Reppy (2.5 and up, 95 to 125 cm). We do not stock either. Above it is the Rally, for ages 4 to 12 and 110 to 150 cm.

Delivery, returns and Christmas
Delivered free. In-stock karts arrive within 48 hours; others typically take 7 to 10 days. The kart comes boxed for home assembly with BERG's manual. You have 14 days to return it.

Frequently Asked Questions
What age is the BERG Buddy for?+
BERG's guide is 3 to 8 years, with a rider height of 100 to 130 cm. Height matters more than age at the edges: a small three-year-old may need to wait, and a tall seven-year-old may be better on a Rally.
Can a two-year-old ride a Buddy?+
BERG's guide for the Buddy starts at three and 100 cm. For a younger child BERG makes the Buzzy and the Reppy, which we do not stock.
What is the difference between the Buddy B.Orange and the Buddy Lua?+
Colour and price. Both are built on the same Buddy frame: the B.Orange is orange, the Lua is pink and green.
Does the Buddy have brakes?+
Yes. It has BERG's BFR hub: pedal backwards to brake, keep the pedals still to freewheel, and pedal backwards again once stopped to reverse. Our BFR guide explains how to teach it.
How is the Buddy delivered?+
Free. In stock it is delivered within 48 hours. It arrives boxed for home assembly, with BERG's manual.
